  1. Strategic Responsibility Pillars
Your job as an internal audit manager is divided between high-level risk strategy and on-the-ground inquiry.

A. Planning for Risk-Based Audits
Annual Strategy: The Annual Risk-Based Audit Plan will be developed under your direction. This is more than simply a calendar; it’s a strategic document that pinpoints the organization’s weak points, whether they be in field operations, grant administration, or procurement.

Audit Universe: You are in charge of conducting enterprise-wide risk assessments and upgrading the “Audit Universe” to take into account new risks that may arise in 2026, such as evolving donor requirements and cybersecurity threats.

B. Compliance & Operational Excellence
Operational Reviews: You will evaluate how cost-effectively Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) operate, making sure that funds are getting to kids rather than being squandered by ineffective administrative procedures.

Internal Controls: You are the main person who reviews audit reports. You make sure they follow the Global Internal Audit Standards (effective January 2025) before they get to the Head of IA and look for any “irregularities or illegal acts.”

MFI & Bank Oversight: In order to guarantee the financial stability of World Vision’s microlending divisions, you will help with monthly assessments of the bank’s capital adequacy and liquidity levels.

C. Succession and Board Engagement
BARCC Reporting: You will help the HIA&I prepare quarterly reports for the Board Audit and Risk Committee (BARCC).

Leadership Development: In order to prepare you for future executive leadership positions within the company, you will regularly report results directly to the board as part of a purposeful succession strategy.

  1. Necessary Education and Technical Proficiency
World Vision is seeking “Local Applicants” with a combination of local context and international-standard certificates.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, or accounting. For managerial positions, a Master’s degree (MBA) is strongly recommended.

Certifications: You have to be an NBAA-registered Certified Public Accountant (CPA-T). In 2026, having a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or CISA (Information Systems) accreditation will be very beneficial.

Experience: Three years at a managerial or senior supervisory level and a minimum of five to seven years of audit experience. Experience with large audit firms (Big Four) or INGOs (International NGOs) is highly sought.

Ethics: Since you will conduct and take part in weekly chapel services and daily devotions, a strong Christian faith is required.

  1. Tanzania’s 2026 Audit Environment
You must be familiar with the Global Internal Audit Standards, which were published in 2024 and are required as of January 2025, in order to make an impression during your interview.

Combined Assurance: World Vision is working toward a paradigm in which the legal, risk management, and internal audit departments collaborate within a “combined assurance” framework.

Data Analytics: World Vision anticipates that auditors will go beyond manual sampling by 2026. It is now essential to be proficient in data mining and analytics (using tools like ACL or IDEA) to identify trends in grant spending.
