Based in Dar es Salaam, the Senior Sales Officer will be at the forefront of the company’s expansion, bridging the gap between high-quality agricultural products and the needs of Tanzanian poultry farmers.


Core Purpose of the Role

The Senior Sales Officer is responsible for identifying market opportunities, acquiring new accounts, and maintaining robust relationships with existing farm clients. You will serve as a brand ambassador, ensuring that Harvest Point remains the preferred choice for farmers seeking both premium feed and comprehensive technical support.

Key Responsibilities & Impact Areas

1. Strategic Business Acquisition

  • Field Sales Leadership: Execute aggressive field sales strategies to grow the company’s market share within Dar es Salaam and surrounding regions.
  • Target Achievement: Consistently meet and exceed monthly and annual sales quotas for poultry feed and related agricultural products.
  • Market Mapping: Identify high-potential farming clusters and develop tailored sales pitches to address specific local needs.

2. Relationship Management & Retention

  • Customer Loyalty: Build and nurture long-term partnerships with commercial poultry farmers, ensuring high retention rates through excellent service.
  • Farm Support: Act as a liaison between the company and the farm, providing basic guidance on feed application to maximize farmer productivity.
  • Feedback Loop: Gather and report market intelligence on competitor pricing, product performance, and emerging farmer requirements.

3. Operational Excellence

  • Negotiation: Lead high-level sales negotiations to secure large-scale supply contracts with commercial poultry estates.
  • Independent Execution: Manage daily schedules, lead generation, and follow-ups with minimal supervision while working under performance pressure.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed sales reports and forecasts for the management team to guide production and inventory planning.

Candidate Profile: Qualifications & Skills

Harvest Point is looking for a “hunter” with a proven track record in field sales, particularly within the agricultural or Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sectors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Agribusiness, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in field sales.
  • Industry Background: Previous experience in the agricultural sector (poultry feed, veterinary products) or FMCG is highly advantageous.

Essential Competencies:

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with both small-scale and large-scale farmers.
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to close complex deals and manage customer expectations.
  • Resilience: A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mobility: A valid driving license is a significant advantage for field-based travel.
