Role Overview: The Impact of MEAL
The MEAL Assistant plays a crucial role in the program lifecycle. You will be responsible for capturing the data that proves our programs work, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that the voices of students and educators are heard through formal feedback channels.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Areas
1. Field Monitoring & Data Collection
- Routine Checks: Conduct school and community-level monitoring to track program progress across Tanzania.
- Assessment Tools: Administer surveys, assessments, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs).
- Data Quality: Ensure that all data collected in the field is accurate, high-quality, and submitted on time.
2. Digital Data Management
- Technical Support: Assist with data entry, cleaning, and verification using tools like Excel, KoboToolbox, and ODK.
- Reporting: Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports for internal management and international donors.
- Database Maintenance: Keep program documentation organized and secure.
3. Learning & Accountability
- Evidence Gathering: Support baseline and endline evaluations to measure long-term project impact.
- Storytelling: Document success stories and “lessons learned” to help the team refine their approach.
- Beneficiary Feedback: Manage community feedback mechanisms to ensure accountability to the children and families we serve.
Candidate Profile: Qualifications & Skills
We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with a passion for data and community development.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma (or currently pursuing) in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Development Studies, Economics, or Social Sciences.
- Technical Skills: Basic familiarity with mobile data collection tools and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Language: Fluency in Kiswahili is mandatory for effective communication in rural project sites.
- Attributes: High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to travel to remote areas.
