4. Job Description
UNICEF is inviting qualified and committed professionals to apply for the position of Programme Associate – Education (G-6) based in Dar es Salaam. The Programme Associate will be part of the Education Programme Section and will report directly to the Chief of Education. The role provides specialized programme and administrative support to ensure effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of education initiatives. The position requires strong coordination skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively across programme, operations, finance, and supply units, as well as with government counterparts, NGOs, and donors.
5. Duties and Responsibilities
The Programme Associate – Education (G-6) will perform the following key functions:
- Support planning, implementation, and monitoring of UNICEF education projects and initiatives in line with approved workplans.
- Coordinate implementing partnership processes, including due diligence, PSEA assessments, micro-assessments, spot checks, and partner performance monitoring.
- Liaise with programme managers and partners to ensure timely submission and processing of Funding Authorizations and FACE forms.
- Monitor Direct Cash Transfers (DCTs) to ensure timely liquidation and compliance with UNICEF financial rules.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative programme data to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, and donor updates on education programme performance.
- Track budgets, expenditures, and grants using UNICEF systems such as SAP, and support grant extensions, reprogramming, and closure processes.
- Contribute to proposal development and statutory reporting by ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of information.
- Apply digital, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve data analysis, reporting, and operational efficiency.
- Draft internal and external communications, knowledge products, and maintain organized digital documentation systems.
- Support capacity-building activities, workshops, meetings, and field missions, including logistical coordination.
- Provide surge and backup support during emergencies or periods of high operational demand.
6. Job Requirements
- Completion of secondary education is required.
- Technical or university-level courses related to programme management or administration are desirable.
- Minimum of six (6) years of administrative or clerical experience, preferably in programme support roles.
- Experience working with the UN system or international organizations is an added advantage.
- Strong project management, analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
7. Language and Competencies
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another UN official language or relevant local language is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, manage complexity, embrace innovation, and deliver results aligned with UNICEF’s core values of Care, Respect, Integrity, Trust, Accountability, and Sustainability.
