Job Description
The School of St Jude is seeking a qualified, passionate, and highly motivated Mathematics Teacher to join its Primary School team at the Sisia Campus in Arusha. This role is ideal for an educator who is enthusiastic about teaching, committed to student-centered learning, and eager to make a lasting impact on young learners’ academic and personal development.
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality Mathematics instruction using modern, competency-based teaching approaches aligned with the NECTA curriculum. In addition to classroom teaching, the teacher will actively contribute to extracurricular activities and the wider school community.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Mathematics lessons in line with the NECTA curriculum.
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate lesson plans, schemes of work, lesson notes, and assessments.
- Apply modern teaching strategies that promote competency-based learning and continuous assessment.
- Assess, record, and report on students’ academic progress and learning outcomes.
- Inspire and mentor students to participate in Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs).
- Promote academic excellence, discipline, and positive moral values among students.
- Participate in school duties such as assemblies, supervision, projects, and committee work.
- Maintain high professional and ethical teaching standards at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, school leadership, and parents where required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tanzanian nationality.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Primary Education), obtained from an accredited university in East Africa.
- Minimum of four (4) years teaching experience at Primary School level, preferably in top-performing English-medium schools.
- Strong ability to teach Mathematics using modern, learner-centered methodologies.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills as the medium of instruction.
- Broad knowledge of primary education subjects (ability to teach multiple subjects is an added advantage).
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
- A mature, independent, ethical, and highly motivated professional with a positive attitude.
- Ability to adapt to the school’s policies, procedures, and work schedules, including weekends when required.
