Role Overview

The HSSE Compliance Assessor / Consultant will be responsible for conducting comprehensive Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) audits, compliance assessments, and due diligence reviews. The role requires deep technical expertise, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to support clients in implementing and maintaining effective HSSE management systems aligned with international standards.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
  • A Master’s Degree in HSSE Management, Risk Management, or Industrial Safety is an added advantage.

Mandatory Certifications

Applicants must hold the following certifications:

  • NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor (Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems)
  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor (Environmental Management Systems)
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor (Quality Management Systems)

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)
  • Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) certification under the ISPS Code

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience in HSSE-related roles.
  • At least 5 years of experience in international terminal operations, ports, logistics, or maritime environments.
  • Proven experience conducting HSSE audits, compliance assessments, inspections, and due diligence assignments.

Regulatory and Standards Knowledge

Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of:

  • International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards
  • International Labour Organization (ILO) safety conventions
  • OSHA, MARPOL, SOLAS, and ISPS Code requirements
  • Local HSSE regulations and compliance frameworks
  • World Bank Group Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Guidelines

Technical Competencies

  • Ability to conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with HSSE software systems and incident reporting platforms.
  • Knowledge of emergency response planning and crisis management procedures.
  • Proven capability in developing, implementing, and reviewing HSSE management systems.
