Job Description

BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania, one of the world’s leading development organizations, is implementing a transformative initiative in collaboration with the MasterCard Foundation. This multi-country programme aims to positively impact more than 1.2 million adolescent girls and young women and 9.5 million community members across Africa.

To strengthen programme implementation at the branch level, BRAC is recruiting 57 dynamic and detail-oriented Branch Accounts and Operations Officers. The successful candidates will support financial management, branch operations, administrative coordination, monitoring, and programme reporting. Reporting to the Regional Accounts Manager, this role ensures the highest levels of transparency, accountability, data accuracy, and operational efficiency.


Duties and Responsibilities

Finance and Accounts

  • Manage daily cash handling, bank transactions, and reconciliation.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely posting of all transactions.
  • Prepare and submit cash requisitions, branch financial reports, and donor financial documentation.
  • Ensure strict compliance with BRAC policies, donor requirements, and national laws.
  • Maintain custody of all financial, procurement, and asset-related documentation.

Branch Operations

  • Support field activities including AIM club visits, VSLA meetings, and training sessions.
  • Assist with mentor recruitment, club space identification, and participant mobilization.
  • Coordinate branch-level procurement and oversee asset and supply inventories.
  • Serve as the technical focal point for digital systems such as Binsight.

Technical & Programme Support

  • Assist the Branch Manager with activity planning, staff guidance, and achievement of programme targets.
  • Support Program Assistants on participant pathways including livelihood and education tracks.
  • Prepare and submit MIS and programme implementation reports.
  • Support market development and value-chain activities within the programme area.

Supervision & Coordination

  • Act as a focal point for stakeholders and supervise administrative support staff.
  • Lead or co-lead branch coordination meetings and assist with monitoring and research activities.
  • Facilitate community dialogues, workshops, and engagement forums.

General Administration

  • Maintain smooth office operations, safety protocols, and adequate supply management.
  • Manage record-keeping systems and ensure a safe, conducive working environment.

Safeguarding

  • Uphold BRAC safeguarding policies to protect team members and programme participants.
  • Detect, prevent, and report any form of abuse, harassment, or exploitation.
  • Serve as a branch-level safeguarding advisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in finance and accounts, especially within development programmes such as microfinance, youth empowerment, livelihood, agriculture, or education projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management, supervision, and administrative procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, integrity, and commitment to BRAC’s mission.
