Job Description

Ecobank Tanzania Limited, a subsidiary of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join the team as Head – Corporate Coverage. Ecobank is the leading pan-African banking group, operating in 35 African countries with its headquarters in Lomé, Togo. The Head of Corporate Coverage will play a central role in driving business performance, leading corporate client relationships, and strengthening Ecobank’s positioning in the Tanzanian corporate banking landscape. The ideal candidate will provide strategic direction, develop winning business strategies, and ensure seamless delivery of credit, treasury, trade, and transaction banking solutions to corporate clients. The role demands a seasoned banking professional with exceptional leadership, financial acumen, and the ability to grow revenue while maintaining strong credit discipline.


Duties and Responsibilities

1. Financial & Business Growth

  • Achieve annual sales, revenue, and profitability targets for the Corporate Banking division.
  • Lead the expansion of Ecobank’s corporate portfolio, ensuring growth across lending, trade finance, cash management, and treasury solutions.
  • Identify new business opportunities and strengthen market penetration in key corporate sectors.

2. Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Develop and implement corporate banking strategies aligned with Ecobank’s long-term business goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement in business development processes, client onboarding, service delivery, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide strategic oversight for product positioning and corporate segment competitiveness.

3. Risk & Compliance Management

  • Review, assess, and approve credit risk proposals within delegated authority.
  • Ensure compliance with internal risk frameworks, regulatory requirements, and credit policies.
  • Monitor portfolio quality, identifying risk exposures and implementing appropriate mitigation measures.

4. Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, including multinationals, large local corporates, and regional businesses.
  • Deliver tailored financial solutions that address client needs in credit, treasury, trade, and transaction banking.
  • Oversee customer service standards to ensure consistency, responsiveness, and satisfaction.

5. Performance Monitoring

  • Track performance across product lines including lending, cash management, and trade finance.
  • Monitor profitability by business segments (Global Corporates, Regional Corporates) and report performance metrics to senior management.
  • Provide market insights and competitive intelligence to support informed decision-making.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ banking experience, with at least 10 years in Sales or Client Relationship Management at management level.
  • Experience in Wholesale, Corporate, or Investment Banking is required.
  • Strong capability in strategic planning, business development, credit assessment, and corporate client engagement.
