Job Description

Computer Centre, a rapidly growing leader in digital services and IT consulting, is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) & Data Warehouse Specialist to join its dynamic technical team. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of the organisation’s database systems, while also supporting the end-to-end development of data warehousing and ETL processes.

The successful applicant will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, optimize, and maintain critical data architectures. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, availability, and efficiency of databases across PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle environments. Additionally, you will contribute to data extraction, transformation, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives, supporting decision-making across the business.

This role is ideal for an analytical, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced digital environment and possesses a strong understanding of database technologies, data warehousing principles, and modern ETL methodologies.


Duties and Responsibilities

1. Database Administration Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain relational database management systems including PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle.
  • Monitor database performance, identify issues, and implement optimization strategies to ensure speed, stability, and scalability.
  • Manage and execute backup and recovery procedures, including routine testing of restore operations to guarantee data safety.
  • Diagnose and resolve database performance issues such as query inefficiencies, resource bottlenecks, and connectivity challenges.
  • Implement robust security controls including user access management, encryption, data auditing, and compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Perform routine database maintenance including upgrades, patches, replication configuration, indexing, and system tuning.
  • Document database environments, architectural designs, ERDs, configurations, and operational procedures for continuity and quality assurance.

2. Data Warehouse & ETL Responsibilities

  • Extract, transform, and load data from SQL databases, CSV files, and other structured or semi-structured sources.
  • Write, review, and optimize T-SQL queries for reporting, data extraction, and analytical workloads.
  • Develop and manage data warehousing platforms that meet organizational standards for data availability, quality, and performance.
  • Design and maintain ETL workflows to support analytics, reporting tools, and business intelligence projects.
  • Apply best practices in data warehousing, including star and snowflake schema design, OLAP modeling, multidimensional architecture, and staging methodologies.
  • Build and maintain ETL solutions, including pipelines for data ingestion, transformation logic, validation, and loading processes.
  • Develop dashboards and visual reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or related platforms.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business data needs and translate them into scalable, high-quality data warehouse solutions.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of proven working experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle Database systems.
  • Strong command of T-SQL for query development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Practical experience in ETL design, development, maintenance, and debugging.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts including star/snowflake schemas, OLAP, staging environments, and multidimensional modeling.
  • Ability to work with different data formats such as comma-delimited files and semi-structured data types.
  • Knowledge of database security, replication, high availability, and backup strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
