Job Description:

This large-scale regional programme aims to drive sustainable and measurable impact for over 1.2 million adolescent girls and young women, while supporting more than 9.5 million people across seven African countries, including Tanzania.

As part of this transformative initiative, BRAC is hiring 57 Branch Accounts and Operations Officers who will play a central role in ensuring the smooth financial and operational functions of the programme at the branch level. This position will directly support programme delivery, financial controls, community engagement, and administrative excellence. The Branch Accounts and Operations Officer will report to the Regional Accounts Manager and work closely with Branch Managers, Program Assistants, mentors, community stakeholders, and other programme staff.

This is a full-time position requiring strong accounting skills, operational coordination capabilities, and a high level of integrity. The ideal candidate must be passionate about development work, committed to empowering young women and communities, and capable of operating in a dynamic and demanding field environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management and Accounting

  • Handle daily financial transactions, including cash management, deposits, withdrawals, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all branch activities.
  • Prepare and submit cash requisitions on time to ensure smooth programme implementation.
  • Compile and submit financial reports, donor reports, and expenditure summaries according to BRAC and donor guidelines.
  • Ensure full compliance with BRAC financial procedures, donor requirements, and national financial regulations.
  • Serve as custodian of financial documents, asset records, procurement files, and branch-level audit documentation.

2. Branch Operations and Programme Support

  • Support field activities in AIM Clubs, community groups, VSLA (Village Savings and Loan Association) meetings, and training sessions.
  • Assist with recruitment of mentors, identification of AIM club spaces, and mobilization of programme participants.
  • Lead procurement of goods and services at branch level, ensuring compliance, documentation, and timely delivery.
  • Manage inventory of supplies, programme materials, and fixed assets.
  • Provide technical support to staff using digital tools including Binsight and other MIS systems.

3. Technical Support and Implementation

  • Work with Branch Managers to plan weekly and monthly activities, monitor progress, and meet programme targets.
  • Guide Program Assistants on participant pathways such as livelihood development and education support.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of programme data, MIS updates, and performance reports.
  • Support market development activities and ensure value-chain engagements are implemented effectively.

4. Supervision, Coordination, and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a focal point for branch-level coordination with stakeholders including community leaders, partners, and government representatives.
  • Supervise administrative support staff and ensure proper work allocation and performance follow-up.
  • Co-facilitate coordination meetings, planning sessions, and stakeholder engagement forums.
  • Support monitoring teams, research assistants, and evaluation personnel during field assessments.
  • Lead community dialogues, local meetings, and programme sensitization activities.

5. General Administration and Office Management

  • Ensure the branch office is fully functional, well-supplied, and maintained in accordance with safety standards.
  • Manage record-keeping systems such as personnel files, procurement documents, attendance sheets, and logistics records.
  • Oversee safety and security procedures for staff, visitors, and program participants.

6. Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and protection of all staff, participants, and stakeholders from harm, exploitation, abuse, harassment, and negligence.
  • Promote safeguarding awareness and ensure full adherence to BRAC safeguarding policies.
  • Report safeguarding concerns and act as a guiding resource for safeguarding compliance within the branch.

Job Requirements:

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or Diploma in:
    • Finance
    • Accounting
    • Business Administration
    • Commerce
    • Or a related field from a recognized institution.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in finance, accounting, or operations within the development sector.
  • Experience working with programs in livelihoods, education, women’s empowerment, microfinance, or agriculture is an added advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to work with financial data.
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination, supervision, or programme administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other digital tools.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and commitment to BRAC’s mission and values.
