1.0 About MNUAT
Mwalimu Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology (MNUAT) is a public higher learning institution established in 2012. It is headquartered in Butiama, Mara Region. The University is currently undergoing major institutional transformation as it prepares to introduce new academic programmes starting in the 2026/2027 academic year. As part of this expansion, the University is strengthening its academic and administrative capacities.
To support this growth, the University is inviting qualified, motivated, and academically capable Tanzanians to apply for fifty-four (54) vacant positions across several teaching disciplines.
1.1 ASSISTANT LECTURER – ANIMAL SCIENCE AND PRODUCTION (3 POSTS) – READVERTISED
1.1.1 Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in an induction programme on pedagogical skills (for applicants without prior training).
- Teach undergraduate students through lectures, tutorials, seminars, and practical sessions.
- Prepare and present academic case studies.
- Conduct research and disseminate research findings through publications.
- Identify students with learning challenges and provide academic support.
- Participate in consultancy and community engagement activities under supervision.
- Attend academic workshops, conferences, and symposia.
- Perform any other related academic tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
1.1.2 Qualifications
- Master of Science in Animal Science, Livestock and Animal Production, Tropical Animal Production, Animal Production, Animal Breeding, Animal Breeding and Genetics, or Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology from a recognized university.
- Minimum GPA of 4.0/5.0 at Master’s level.
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum GPA of 3.8/5.0, with at least a B+ in the dissertation.
- Strong academic potential is required.
For applicants with an unclassified Master’s Degree (by research/thesis):
- A pass grade is acceptable.
- Must have at least two (2) publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Must demonstrate clear academic progression from Bachelor’s to Master’s level.

Requirements:
- Minimum GPA 4.0/5.0 at Master’s level.
- Bachelor’s Degree GPA 3.8/5.0, with at least B+ in dissertation.
- Strong academic potential.
For unclassified Master’s (by thesis/research):
- Pass grade plus two peer-reviewed publications.
- Must show clear academic progression.
