4. Job Description

Vodacom Tanzania is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Specialist in Big Data & Special Projects to join its advanced analytics team. This full-time position plays a critical role in driving data-powered decision-making, enhancing customer experience (CX), optimizing operational efficiencies, and supporting strategic commercial initiatives across the business.

The successful candidate will work at the intersection of machine learning, data science, and commercial intelligence, helping to co-create next-generation advanced analytics products that deliver measurable impact. This role requires a strong technical background, hands-on experience with ETL pipelines, machine learning models, and a deep understanding of customer-driven marketing techniques. The Specialist will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, generate insights, and deliver advanced analytics solutions from concept to execution.

Additionally, the role contributes to the broader Vodafone global community by participating in knowledge-sharing initiatives and helping to build world-class machine learning capabilities across markets. 5. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to co-create machine learning products that improve revenue, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns within large and complex datasets.
  • Support the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data sourced from multiple internal systems.
  • Lead the end-to-end (E2E) go-to-market execution for big data propositions and special projects.
  • Translate analytical findings and machine learning model outputs into clear, actionable insights for business teams.
  • Develop and deploy machine learning models on the Big Data Platform to support various business units.
  • Work closely with marketing and commercial teams to deliver insights aligned with the Customer Value Management (CVM) strategy.
  • Challenge existing processes by proposing data-backed innovations and improvements.
  • Actively participate in the Vodafone global analytics community to support capability building.

6. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in big data, machine learning, data science, or related analytical roles.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Journalism, or other quantitative fields.
  • Strong knowledge of customer-driven marketing techniques, CVM principles, and commercial analytics.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning, logical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and challenge the status quo.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical insights in a user-friendly manner.
  • Ability to anticipate market trends, customer behaviors, and competitive dynamics.
