Job Description:
TMHS Group is actively seeking a highly qualified and experienced Safety and Quality Manager to lead and strengthen our Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Quality Management Systems across all operational units in Tanzania. This senior-level role is critical for ensuring that the organization meets stringent regulatory requirements, maintains safe working environments, and upholds exceptional quality standards across all services and activities.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid educational foundation in Environmental Sciences, paired with extensive hands-on experience managing safety and quality programs at a senior level. As a key leader within the organization, the Safety and Quality Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive HSE strategies that cultivate a proactive safety culture. The role demands a professional who can lead by example, communicate effectively across all departments, and drive continuous improvement in safety and quality performance.

Key responsibilities include conducting detailed risk assessments, performing internal safety audits, inspecting and verifying the effectiveness of OHS equipment, and ensuring immediate action on system failures or client-reported safety concerns. The position also requires overseeing laboratory-related quality procedures, ensuring full compliance with ISO standards and maintaining accurate documentation for audits.

The Safety and Quality Manager will play a major role in coordinating external OHS consultancy assignments—from planning and execution to monitoring performance and reporting. This includes identifying new consultancy opportunities by assessing the safety needs of partner organizations and building strong professional relationships with external stakeholders.

A crucial part of this role is to serve as the primary point of contact for all client OHS requirements, providing expert guidance, actionable insights, and continuous support. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving ability, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to influence and guide teams toward operational excellence. Leadership, integrity, and a deep understanding of national and international safety regulations—such as OSHA, ISO 45001, and other relevant standards—are essential for thriving in this position.

Applicants must have at least five years of proven experience as an HSE Manager, with measurable contributions to improving workplace safety, ensuring compliance, and implementing effective quality management structures.

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences and Management.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in an HSE Manager or senior safety/quality management role.
• Strong expertise in Health & Safety Regulations, Training, Auditing, and Risk Assessment.
• Proven ability to inspect, evaluate, and oversee OHS equipment and safety systems.
• Skilled in diagnosing and resolving safety or quality issues, including client-reported concerns.
• Experience coordinating laboratory quality systems and ISO-related protocols.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, supervise, and evaluate OHS consultancy work.
• Proven track record of identifying and engaging organizations needing OHS consultancy services.
• Solid knowledge of OSHA, ISO 45001, and other relevant safety standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team-management skills.
