Job Description

Roar Capital is seeking an accomplished and highly strategic finance leader to serve as the Group Head of Finance. This is a senior-level position reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and plays a pivotal role in shaping the financial direction of the organization. The role is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and requires a seasoned professional with strong technical expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to operate in a dynamic and multifaceted business environment.

The Group Head of Finance will oversee all financial operations across the organization, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with both local and international regulatory standards. This includes oversight of financial reporting, forecasting, audits, risk management, and long-term financial planning. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in guiding strategic decision-making, driving operational efficiency, and supporting the company’s broader growth objectives.

Working closely with senior executives, the Group Head of Finance will play a central role in developing financial strategies that strengthen business performance and enhance organizational resilience. Duties and Responsibilities

The Group Head of Finance will lead all aspects of group-level financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and the development of financial models supporting strategic initiatives. The role includes managing financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance with international financial reporting standards, coordinating internal and external audits, and establishing robust internal controls. The individual will oversee tax planning and compliance in accordance with Tanzanian regulations, provide continuous analysis of financial performance, and implement strategies to optimize efficiency and profitability. Additional responsibilities include leading and mentoring the finance team, supporting executive leadership with data-driven insights, and fostering a culture of accountability and high performance across the finance function.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in senior finance leadership roles such as Head of Finance, Group Controller, or an equivalent position. A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or auditing is required, along with a recognized professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or CIMA. A deep understanding of Tanzanian tax laws and international reporting frameworks, including IFRS and GAAP, is essential. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, proven experience managing large finance teams, and advanced competency in financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. A master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is highly desirable. Experience in complex corporate or multinational environments is strongly preferred, along with a track record of guiding strategic financial decisions and improving operational effectiveness. Clear communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with the CFO and other senior stakeholders are also essential.
